End of Year With Evan

Evan had an end of year field trip to Vulcan and Sloss Furnace. It was a fun, exhausting day and I'm so glad I got to go along for the ride! Oh, and if you want to know ANYTHING about iron or iron making just ask Evan. He is seriously an expert.

Here Evan is in front of a sample of Vulcan's foot.
That iron giant has a very interesting history!

4 terrified third graders 130 feet up! They were pretty brave!

A view from the top of Vulcan...

Vulcans backside... not to shabby. ;)

Evan really didn't feel better until he was inside the tower instead of out in the open. I was proud of him for walking all the way around before he headed for the stairs.

Evan's awesome class!

Next we took a trip over to Sloss Furnace. A delightfully haunted factory where they used to make iron. The kids all posed around the sign until someone came out and yelled at them. Apparently the sign is a historical monument. Oops.

Hanging out by the gate... Evan and I both thought it was really cool.

Sloss...

A close up of one of the furnaces.

Me and my buddy in front of a cool sculpture!

Silly girls.

We were all so tired after the field trip that a few kids decided they needed a nap. I think Micah was really asleep!

After the field trip I picked up Eric and the boys and came back for some balloon fun! Mrs. Warmack even had an extra Popsicle for Patrick.

It started raining so we ran inside so Eric could finish making balloons.

Reid and Logan sat quietly and colored.
I think they will both do well in school next year!

The whole class with their balloons!

All in all it was a great day! I am so glad Evan was in this wonderful classroom this year. They are a pretty great group of kids and I couldn't have asked for a better teacher for Evan. We love Mrs. Warmack!
